What pretty-effect.com keeps, and why

Last updated 27 October 2026.

Who is responsible

This site, pretty-effect.com, belongs to Pretty Effect, a small hair accessories shop in Adelaide, South Australia. Questions about your personal information go to [email protected].

What the checkout form collects

When you send the checkout form we receive your name, e-mail address, postal address, the pieces and quantities you picked, the postage region and anything you write in the notes box. FormSubmit, the relay we use for the form, turns those fields into an e-mail and drops it in our inbox. Every detail serves the order itself: confirming it, collecting payment via our emailed link, addressing the parcel and sorting out returns. Order e-mails are kept while Australian tax rules say a seller must hold records, and are deleted after that.

Cookies and the consent note

A little card in the corner asks about cookies the first time you arrive. Your answer is written once into your browser's local storage, under the key pe_cookie_pick, which is how the card knows not to come back. At present nothing on the site looks at that key. pretty-effect.com places no cookies at all, and it went live with zero visitor-counting or ad scripts. Should that ever change, such tools would sit switched off until you said yes, and this page would change before they did.

Fonts

Our two typefaces are fetched from a public web-font service when a page opens. Fetching those files means your browser reveals its IP address to that font host, just as loading any web address does.

What we never do

Personal details are not for sale here, nor for hire or swapping, and we do not add you to a mailing list because you ordered. If we ever start a newsletter, joining it will be a separate, unticked choice.

Your rights

Whichever country you write from, these are open to you: a copy of the details on file, a correction of anything wrong, erasure, an export in a portable file, and objection to a particular use. They mirror the European GDPR, and we simply apply them to every customer. Under the CCPA, Californians can additionally learn what was gathered, have it erased, refuse any sale (none happens here) and expect identical service after using any of those rights. Australian visitors are covered by the Australian Privacy Principles.

To use any of these rights, e-mail [email protected]. We answer within 30 days and will not charge for it.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection. Payment is taken only through the secure link in our confirmation e-mail; card details are never typed into this site or sent to our mailbox.
